About the event
The 2026 Miami Workshop marks the first formal convening of the Small Island Developing States Science (SIDSCI) Initiative — a SIDS-led effort to strengthen island representation and leadership in global climate science.
Over four days, 50 scientists, technical experts, and emerging scholars from across the Pacific, Caribbean, and Atlantic–Indian Ocean SIDS will come together to build networks, share strategies, and engage directly with the IPCC and UNFCCC processes.
The workshop will serve as a launchpad for sustained SIDS participation in the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report (AR7) and other global science–policy platforms — ensuring that SIDS-led evidence informs decisions that shape our shared climate future.
